Welcome to episode 43 of Echo Romeo Kilo recorded in the town of Echo, Oregon. This was an unplanned episode as Erk was driving down Interstate 84 between Boise & Portland when he saw a sign heading towards a town of Echo. And what did I do? You’ll have to listen and find out as Erk takes a walk around Echo!

Welcome to this episode of Echo recorded in San Francisco, CA. Erk went for a ride on the Muni Light Rail and Streetcar systems. He also recorded part of this episode on BART but due to recording FAIL, it does not make it onto the episode.
Erk rides the Red line on the Light Rail system and a couple of short trips on the F line Streetcar. Due to the massive amount of people, Erk didn’t ride but saw the famous San Francisco cable cars.
While Erk was walking in downtown San Francisco, I walked into a protest. Normally I steer clear of such protests or don’t have time to stop. But today I decided to stop and get out my camera and Zoom H4 recorder.
The protest was about the current global financial situation and the bailout of various banks here in America. I wasn’t there for the start of the protest that was held outside the Federal Reserve Bank in San Francisco that was closed over the weekend.
I missed most of the speeches but I did get to observe the performance of the Raging Grannies whiich included street theatre and singing. I then got to speak with a few of the Grannies as well as a couple of other people in the crowd.
Welcome to episode 40 of Echo Romeo Kilo. This was recorded on a Blue Line Metro Train in Los Angeles as it ran from 7th Street/Metro to Long Beach. Erk tells you about this interesting train line and shares some stories about his time in LA.

Welcome to (the long delayed) episode 39 of Echo Romeo Kilo.
On this episode, Erk is joined by Channel Erk guest and friend Squeak as we go out geocaching in north-western Sydney. Together, Erk and Squeak explain what geocaching is as we go on a modern day treasure hunt. So how did we go? You’ll have to listen and find out!
Welcome to episodes 37 and 38 of Echo. This recording was originally of an episode of Hyper Nonsense (episode 133) that was recorded while Erk was at work as Mr Shed. Erk joins Hyper Nonsense host Shawno for an afternoon at work (Erk) and an evening of podcasting (Shawno).
The episode is unedited to show you how it was recorded on the day. This episode actually predates Echo. If you have heard Erk on Hyper Nonsense, you may have heard this episode but this is the first time it has been available on an Erk feed.
During the episode, Erk and Shawno talk about trains (of course) and a lot lot more over an episode that goes close to 2 hours. Erk is at work and work has to come first but due to the wonders of technology, you can actually hear what is going on. Shawno did the recording and Erk was using his mobile phone with Skype. Hands free was used when required.
In an exciting move, there is a new way to access all of Erk’s podcasts! You can now visit Channel Erk (www.channelerk.com) and you can see the latest episodes for all 4 podcasts that Erk produces. You can also subscribe to one or more of the podcasts from the same page, download the latest episodes or indeed subscribe to all 4 podcasts in one feed. You can still access each site at the current addresses as well.
Previously, there were separate subscriptions for each podcast. This will continue and the feeds have not changed if this is the way you prefer to subscribe. But if you want to listen to all of Erk’s content, you can do it on the Channel Erk Combined Feed. On this feed (available here via RSS and coming soon via iTunes), you will get all 4 podcasts on the one feed as they become available.
“Did I read you correctly, Erk? Did you say 4 podcasts?”
That’s right, there are now 4 Erk based podcasts! Joining Erk Pod (talk), Erk FM (music), Echo Romeo Kilo (outdoor/mobile) is a new podcast called “Erk’s Blast From The Past”. Episode 1 for this show will be recorded and released very soon. You can visit the website here and you can either subscribe to the show on its own or it will be part of the Channel Erk Combined Feed.
Have you ever heard your parents say “back in my day, ………..” Indeed, you may be that person who says that they walked 6 miles up hill to school and then after school, they walked 6 miles up hill to walk home. In this new podcast (Erk Blast for short), Erk is joined by his mum and they discuss things “back in my day…….” and compare it to the current day. Even Erk finds himself saying to people like Erk Pod co-host Drue “I remember when ………….”
So come and visit Channel Erk! It will really be a case of “All Erk, all the time ……. and then some!”
Welcome to episode 36 of Echo Romeo Kilo One One. In this episode, Erk is on location at the Garfield Road level crossing adjoining Riverstone railway station. He later moves to the Level Crossing Road level crossing between Vineyard and Mulgrave railway stations.
Erk talks about some of the history of the Richmond line. Also learn about some of the development of level crossings over time as trains have got faster, longer and heavier. Of course over time, the amount of road traffic has exploded as well.
While Erk moves between level crossings, there is a public service announcement that was a part of a recent anti-trespass and level crossing safety here in NSW (source: NSW Level Crossing Strategy website).
Welcome to the Echo Romeo Kilo One One audio podcast, also known as Echo for short. Echo is produced in western Sydney, Australia by Erk. Echo started as a short term project in November 2008 called NaPodPoMo (National Podcast Post Month) where the aim was to record a daily podcast each day in November.
Erk wanted the podcast to be different to his original podcast Erk Pod so Echo was an outdoor/mobile based podcast. There were many interviews during November as well.
Beyond November 2008, Echo is more about mobile & outdoor podcasting. There is some content from Erk Pod as well as new content.
Echo is a regular podcast but does not have a set weekly or fortnightly schedule.
Be sure to check out Erk's other audio podcasts Blast From The Past (social history), Erk Pod (talk) and Erk FM (music).
